{"id":37,"date":"2013-05-01T03:04:24","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T03:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acaciaspring.org\/?page_id=37"},"modified":"2017-03-22T21:55:39","modified_gmt":"2017-03-22T21:55:39","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/en.acaciaspring.org\/?page_id=37","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Acacia Spring Charitable Foundation (hereinafter referred to as \u201cASC Foundation\u201d or \u201cthe Foundation\u201d) was duly incorporated in the Province of British Columbia of Canada as a public foundation in November 2003 under the name of CRRS (Worldwide) Foundation. It had obtained its registered charity status since its date of inception with Revenue Canada. The Foundation formally adopted the name of ASC Foundation effective January 2013.<\/p>\n<p>In the past ten years, the Foundation had raised over five million dollars for the following purposes:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-roman;\">\n<li>to carry out educational programs to benefit the needy students in China, Ghana and Costa Rica;<\/li>\n<li>to relieve poverty by providing food, clothing and other basic supplies and services to persons in need around the world;<\/li>\n<li>to render urgent humanitarian aid to victims of disasters;<\/li>\n<li>to advance other charitable causes as determined by the Board;<\/li>\n<li>Educational Programs &amp; Scholarships<br \/>\n\u201cGiving Back To The Village\u201d summer program organized since 2009 for university students coming from the villages in the Province of Guangxi, China to serve their home village.<br \/>\n\u201cTrauma Counselling\u201d program offered with the Chengdu University to teachers after the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, equipping them to provide counselling to victims in the earthquake zone.<br \/>\n\u201cPhysically Challenged Scholarships\u201d provided for students affected by the Sichuan earthquake in 2008.<br \/>\n\u201cCertificate Upgrade Scholarships\u201d for teachers in rural China through distant learning.<br \/>\n\u201cBasic Education Scholarships\u201d to support ethnic minority students in China.<br \/>\n\u201cHigher Education Scholarships\u201d to support academically capable students in Guangxi, China to attend Colleges and Universities.<br \/>\n\u201cMigrant Workers\u2019 Children Scholarships\u201d for children of migrant workers in Shanghai to receive education.<br \/>\nGrants for new school buildings in China.<br \/>\nGrants for school facilities upgrade, e.g. bathrooms, resource center, canteen, dormitories, water pipelines, etc.<br \/>\nGrants for books, stationery, room and board, transportation, etc. for needy students in Costa Rica, Ghana, and China.<\/li>\n<li>Poverty Relief<br \/>\nDistributing winter clothes to children in rural areas in China;<br \/>\nGrants to purchase an ambulance in Hechi, Guangxi, China for use in medical emergency.<br \/>\nDonations to Meals on Wheels and food kitchen of the Salvation Army in Vancouver, Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Humanitarian Aids<br \/>\nDistributing rice to the needy families in Guangxi, China during the snowstorm in 2008.<br \/>\nRehabilitation assistance to orphans and the handicapped affected by the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008.<br \/>\nFunding schools to purchase supplies needed to resume classes after the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008.<br \/>\nDonations to Red Cross, World Vision, Salvation Army, to help victims of disasters in Haiti, Bangladesh and Taiwan.<\/li>\n<li>Other Activities<br \/>\nSponsoring extracurricular programs for aboriginal students in Canada.<br \/>\nSupporting community programs to reaching out to needy students in Greater Vancouver through the School Board.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 18px; color: #0000ff; text-align: right; font-family: arial;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.acaciaspring.org\/?page_id=99 \">&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acacia Spring Charitable Foundation (hereinafter referred to as \u201cASC Foundation\u201d or \u201cthe Foundation\u201d) was duly incorporated in the Province of British Columbia of Canada as a public foundation in November 2003 under the name of CRRS (Worldwide) Foundation.
